Hi,
If you go for a loft conversion with Dan James Construction, do you know if you get a guarantee and, if so, how long it's for?
Many thanks

You get as much guarantee as with any company doing major works on your house. Ultimately, don't make the unbelievable mistake of paying all the money up before you are satisfied with the job. Make this clear at the outset ie that a certain amount will only be paid at completion (10 to 15%). Make sure you climb up there and keep an eye on the work so you are not inspecting the finished project (and therefore raise issues when its effectively too late). So if a room isn't coming out how you want it, say so early enough for it to be changed.
One of the most common issues with loft conversions is the roof. Often you will get some leaking and this will cause a dispute if the scaffolding has already been taken down. A difficult one to advise on because you won't know until it rains heavily enough so you may have already finished paying. Building work involves risk so you can't cover everything.
I used Dan James -they were fantastic. The 'boys' were polite, clean and tidy. Payments were in chunks after achieving pre set goals. 3 years on and I would have them do it all again - I have no complaints.
