Crouch End Walks have a second walk ‘From Hay to Houses, Stroud Green DIscovered’ takes us to the south of borough and just over the border.
Why is it known as Stroud Green?
Why are there so many stables here?
What’s so special about the panels outside the Old Dairy?
Why is there a kink in Upper Tollington Park by the old railway bridge?
Why did the fences go up at Finsbury Park?
Which block of flats caused national excitement when it was built?
Where is Stapleton Hall, Haringey’s oldest building?
Find out how Stroud Green turned from a nice to place to go for the week end for Elizabethans to one of London’s suburbs, but one with a reputation for radical protest.
Optional tea this time provided by MIND in the old stationmaster’s house at Stroud Green Station building for £3, and the walk costs £7 and lasts about an hour and a half.
It’s a 2pm start at The World’s End pub, 23 Stroud Green Road N4. Join us on 6th September, 27th September or 18th October.
Hi, I really enjoyed the WW1 walk - please sign me up for the 18 October Stroud Green Walk. Deborah Rees
Me too - have signed up for 18 October, too, and told my neighbours. Roslyn Byfield
Hi Deborah and Ros
Thanks, looking forward to seeing you both again.
Paul.
Hi - Do you need to sign up in advance or can you just turn up? Sounds fascinating....
Hi Kate
We had 23 come along on Saturday and they really enjoyed it.
You could turn up on the day, but we prefer people to book as it helps us to make sure the group does not get too big and we know to wait for people if they are running late. You can always book now and let us know nearer the time if you change your mind.
Hi, this sounds great and I'd like to register 2 of us for the 18th. How do I do that please?
Good Morning Alice
Thanks for this, we've saved you two places for 18th.
Look forward to seeing you then. In the meantime, if you are in Finsbury Park station, you might want to take a note of the mosaics on the platform walls of the activities that used to go on in Finsbury Park.
Paul.
