Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi everyone,

The choir I sing in, Crouch End Festival Chorus, has its next concert on Sunday, 23 October at the wonderfully local Alexandra Palace Theatre. The programme is John Adams' Harmonium, Elgar's Sea Pictures and a new work commissioned by the choir called Songs of the Reef by young Australian composer Cassie To.

Marine Biologist Steve Simpson features on David Attenborough's Blue Planet 2 series (the final episode) and shows how noise pollution is terrifying the living creatures within the ocean as it interferes with their communication.  All of this affects the biodiversity surrounding the coral reefs. CEFC's Conductor David Temple MBE spotted that the aforementioned professor was once a pupil of his and decided to commission a work based on his underwater sounds.  Cassie To was approached to compose this work, to include CEFC, symphony orchestra and Finchley Children's Music Group and the result will have its premiere at this concert.

Please see the Alexandra Palace website for ticket information!
