Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Some of you may remember my blog back in the summer from my walk around Hackney Wick. As part of that walk I stumbled across the Folly for a Flyover (above). Apparently that was built with money form the Create Art Award. Submissions for the 2012 award, the largest participatory art award in the UK, have just opened.

This annual award helps artists living or working within the London 2012 host boroughs to deliver brand new public art commissions as part of the CREATE Festival.

The award aims to open up exciting opportunities for artists to work with their neighbours: the residents of the London 2012 host boroughs.

Submissions are invited for participatory art projects from artists who live or work in one of the host boroughs*. Proposals are welcomed from artists working in all media.

Deadline for submissions: 5pm, 28 October 2011

  • The total value of the commission is £50,000
  • The commission will be awarded in December 2011.
  • The work must be realised in June/July 2012 as part of CREATE.
