Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

We have just sold our house and now need a conveyancer / solicitor for the next steps. We were pushed towards using ones recommended by our estate agents but I've been warned in general to stay away from ones that EA recommends.

Can anyone recommend good one?

Thanks!

You're right to avoid the ones your EA recommends - if they were decent, they wouldn't need to pay your EA to help them get business.

I can thoroughly recommend Bradley Bernett at Curwens. Not the very cheapest, but reasonable and he will absolutely make sure that nothing is missed. He helped us make a sale/purchase last year, and we completed the purchase in under a month from offer to move-in (stamp duty rush), despite our EA saying it couldn't be done.

Oh how nice. I had Bradley on the other side of a matter I was working on last year and I was impressed.

(I’m not touting for business, I’m not a conveyancer, I’m in another related field of law)

Not sure I would use them again but I did get a quote and they were the most expensive

I used Streathers Solicitors for my sale/purchase last year and can recommend. Not the cheapest but thorough and professional and I didn't miss the stamp duty deadline either

Second recommend for Streather's crouch end. We have used them for moving twice now they are extremely efficient and always contactable.

We used Alan Browning in crouch end details below.

Streathers Crouch End 14 Park Road,

Crouch End, London N8 8TD Tel: 020 8347 2480

Yes Alan Browning is good - he was our buyers' solicitor- and recommended by our estate agent, David Astbury's!! The main thing is to avoid conveyancing firms (often online) who have no local knowledge, are often technicians rather than solicitors and in our experience just do the minimum. We used Gerry di Piazza from D P Cameron, a local solicitor and part of the network of EAs, solicitors and surveyors who know each other and work well together.

I can highly recommend Clinton Davis Pallis, 88a Tottenham Lane, Monica Healy & Ophelia Debra, we have used them a couple of times now, for property related services, as well as conveyancing and they have been brilliant. Prices I thought were very reasonable as well.

Sixfaces it doesn't work like that. Solicitors don't pay estate agents for business. Gillian's much nearer the mark. People in complementary businesses get to know each other and earn each other's respect. It's not in anybody's interest to work like you suggest, 6.
