Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Continually surprised at where mentions of HoL pop up

I'm continually surprised at where we pop up round the the world, but I don't normally mention these finds because, well, it's just not English is it. I just happened on yet another mention and thought I'd add a little flag this time.

This time HoL gets a mention in a paper from Arizona State University written by a professor from Maxwell School of Syracuse University in New York.

Perhaps my surprise was greater a couple of months ago to come across a Ukranian write up of our site in Комунікація (of course where else!).

Specifically, page 83 of the report via your first link, section titled 'Putting it All Together: Examples with Multiple Levels of Involvement':

.... each come in the form of interactive tools where residents can self-organize for community improvement efforts and other community building activities. Examples include situations where residents have organized to tackle community problems such as crime through neighborhood watches and the beautification of park and public space through clean-ups, among others.

They mention Redbridge i as well (which has been signposted on HOL before I think) a very interesting interactive council site.

I think it's p.s 22, 33 & 83 but 83 seems to be then main one.

I found the Arizona State/Syracuse reference to HOL's Multiple Levels of Involvement (but is the Paper's Amish Community graphic a metaphor of connectedness or hermetic seclusion from today's world?!) - but a quick skim of Ukraine failed to turn up the HOL write-up.

Anyway, good to have the mention. Let's have more links with what the world thinks of us - maybe even a regular slot on the main page (however unEnglish or very TIMEmagazine-ish it may be).

It's really nice to be noticed.

After just picking up Ruth's spare jam jars (after she posted on here) I do feel like part of a community - which I think is rare in London.

Since you asked, this in my mailbox this morning:

"I'm showcasing www.harringayonline.com to a client in QLD Australia tomorrow - any new insights?"
