Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Some residents told me about the problems they were experiencing with a large commercial waste bin for one of the restaurants on Green Lanes.  Since its placement it has caused problems with dumping and accumulating waste along side which is extremely unpleasant for residents walking by and is attracting foxes and other vermin.

I have asked the council to take a look - they have visited the site and agree it is inappropriately sited and asked for its removal which should happen in a day or so.

Please let me know if this doesn't happen and I can chase it again.

I have been down to Lothair Road North today to have a look to see if the bin issue has been resolved.  There is a large black commercial waste bin still there though there is no dumped rubbish around it.  Can someone let me know if this is the original offending bin or if it is a smaller replacement please?

Yes it's the very bin. So long as it's on the pavement it will attract waste. I'll send you a photo next time this happens but thanks for getting the waste cleared up!

Cluttering up the pavements with bins is not the solution. If people are not prepared to make provision for their waste on their own property why should it be inflicted on we pedestrians. For example these pictures from Tancred Road show what happens when people (who have front yards) prefer to leave their bins on pavements - the rubbish was there for three days - the bin is always there. Why should the council even be involved in this - don't neighbours in Tancred Rd want to have a friendly and helpful chat with those who may innocently be ignorant of convention?

Thanks, thats really helpful.  I have again asked the council to pay a visit to the restaurants concerned and get the bin removed from the street.  Please keep me updated on progress and I will continue to chase if nothing happens.

Actually no sign of the bin at all on Sunday - very welcome and thanks for making a fuss and everybody else who made a small fuss should pat themselves on the back. No doubt if it reappears you'll get a shout from somewhere.

Great news.  I have had confirmation today that the bin has been removed by Veolia.  A council officer has also visited today to ensure there is no build up of residual rubbish.

If the problem reoccurs please let me know.
