Come & volunteer with me at Crisis this year
I'm volunteering at Crisis @ Christmas again this year, so I thought I'd put this up in case anyone else wants to join me. I volunteer at the East London Day Centre, there are several centres across London so don't be put off if you don't want to trek to Homerton.
I volunteer as a Salon Manager, so I'm particularly hoping to inspire some people with hairdressing skills to sign up. There's always a bit of a lull after Christmas Day, and usually a general shortage of people with barbering skills. Which seems odd because there's a bit of a dead zone between Boxing Day and NYE, why not fill it doing something nice for others :)
My brother-in-law, who is a trainee barber, got roped in on short notice last year and said it was an amazingly rewarding experience (it's true, it is). We all know how much better a haircut makes you feel, it's an amazing gift to gift to a person.
There are also slots of people with kitchen skills, sewing skills, computer skills, craft skills - you name it.
If you'd like to know more, please feel free to message me. I know it can be a bit intimidating doing something like this for the first time and you may have questions. I'll be at ELDC on the 27th & 28th December all day if you'd like to sign up to the same shifts.

p.s. If you are a barber or hairdresser but are worried about committing, I'll have a 'last minute' list for the 27th & 28th where I'll just give you a ring if we end up short of people & you can choose whether to drop in. Let me know if you'd like me to put you on the list.

I'm also volunteering for Crisis, but at the Paddington residential centre. I'm a general volunteer and will be there on 24, 26, 28 and 29 for the morning shifts - I'd love a few friends too. I did it last year for the first time and it was an amazing, fulfilling, uplifting and fun experience, but it is also extremely hard work so be prepared!

I'll be down in Bermondsey at the warehouse again this year (26-28th). I end up visiting all the other sites as a driver. Hope you both enjoy your shifts.
Do sign up if anyone is interested. There are many different roles (most of which require no expertise) and locations dotted around London.
