Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I am trying to find a local charity that will be collecting new toys, books etc to use as Christmas presents to give to local families.

Does anyone know of anything? I have tried emailing the Wood Green Salvation Army Centre about this but not had a response.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Emma

You could try Finsbury Park Homeless Family Project or the Haringey Migrant Support Centre or Caris Haringey

Con

Have emailed them all to see if they are doing so, thanks

Freedom From Torture in Isleden Road, near the Sobell Centre, collect new items to give as Christmas presents to refugees who have fled trauma and have nothing.

I have had the following back from Caris Haringey; they are particularly in need of things for babies and toddlers and 10-14 year olds

We are planning Christmas parties for homeless children living in temporary accommodation and are seeking donations of toys, games and books.  Baby toys  Pre-school toys  Board games  Duplo/Lego   Dolls  Cars  Puzzles  Musical toys  Art materials  Books Last year, thanks to the generosity of local churches, schools and individuals, CARIS Haringey was able to give out around 300 presents to children at our Christmas parties. We are very grateful to everyone who donated to our appeal for enabling us to bless families in this way. Can you help us spread some Christmas joy again this year? The families we support have encountered a multitude of problems and difficulties, such as family breakdown, physical and mental health issues, domestic violence, and destitution. Children are referred to CARIS Haringey by statutory agencies, health professionals, schools, voluntary and community groups. This time of year can be particularly hard for these families. Many are struggling to afford even basic items, like food and toiletries. Your gifts will make a real difference to them. The Christmas Appeal helps children from 0-14 years. This year we particularly need toys for babies and toddlers and for 10-14 year olds. Gifts should be new and not wrapped up please. Please deliver donations to CARIS Haringey, St Ann’s Church Hall, Avenue Rd, London N15 5JH by MONDAY 7th DECEMBER 2015. Call us first on 020 8800 5300 to arrange a delivery time. Please help us to make the appeal a success and ensure that CARIS makes a difference to the lives of those most in need this Christmas. Thank you!
