Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone know if political parties are supposed to abide by the Telephone Preference Service?

I just got a cold call from a very nice Lib-Dem lady asking about the mayoral elections however I'm registered with the TPS and am wondering both how they got my number and whether they should cross reference against the do not call list.

No big deal but was curious...

More info on TPS here - well worth registering...

For people who didn't see it, the Guardian carried an article by Tony Levene on 16 February 2013 about the failings of the Telephone Preference Service. It quoted the manager of the TPS saying "I'd completely understand if the Guardian wrote a 'TPS is broken' headline".

This particular HoL discussion thread focussed on cold-calling by the political parties. So as were are now in the very long campaign for the May 2014 Council elections, we can expect more calls. Especially in what are seen as "target" seats.  And I regret to say that I never did get a convincing answer from the Labour Party apparatchiks.
