Climate: National Emergency Briefing film showing in Tottenham

Friends of the Earth is inviting you to see this important film. We also encourage you to share this invitation with people who are looking for facts but also an opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about the Climate Emergency.

The very point of this film is to push the Government to come clean with the nation and communicate clearly the  impacts coming down the road and what we will have to do to address them.

The film features footage from last November's National Emergency Briefing, which brought together leading UK experts in climate science, food security, health, economics, national security and nature. Watch the Trailer.

It presents a clear, measured overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain - and what the evidence says about risks and responses.

This initiative is explicitly non-partisan, and has support from a wide range of organisations including National Trust, Church of England, the Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, National Education Union, and many more.

Its purpose is to support informed democratic discussion and ensure that Parliament and the public share a common understanding of the scale and urgency of the challenge.

The 45 minute film will be followed by facilitated discussions in small groups. We have invited local politicians to join us, but the gathering is not about giving them a platform. Local climate group members will also be present but they will be listening and not preaching.

Being honest about how this information makes us feel, about what prevents us from engaging, or from engaging too much, is an important conversation to be had.
