Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Recently, a post here cast unevidenced aspersions on Chinese medicine. I would like to echo my wife's recent experience. She has been a little unwell, feeling low, working too much over a hot laptop, stiff shoulders and stress. A friend recommended the Chinese Herbal and Acupuncture Centre on Green Lanes(also Stroud Green I believe) She got the most beneficial massage, pretty vigorous by all accounts and has been smiling and full of beans ever since! The proof of the pudding........

Why have you posted this? I have evidence of one happy customer after one treatment, thats all. Do you have evidence of anything else, otherwise please don't post negative opinions without any rational reason.

The customers are treated in the treatment area, which is, of course not public.

I don't think anyone has said that massage cannot be beneficial. But massage is not specific to Chinese medicine.

I hear good things about Tiger Balm though.

edit to add...

I don't think it's made from tigers though

Aren't there a couple of Chinese medicine places on the Lanes? Could you let us have the address please Phil.

The one im talking about is 63 Grand Parade just a few doors to the left of Barclays. I should emphasise I have heard two good reports of massage but have no information on other services there.

Right, thanks. (There's another further north opposite Selale).

I can recommend Gillian Price, who's been doing Chinese Medicine and acupuncture for years.  She works in Harringay and Stoke Newington, as her web site will show.

May I add that I have always taken Chinese herbal medicine where possible. To me, it seems to reach the source of the health issue, rather than mask it like some western artificial man made tablets tend to do.

The root cause of each disease for each person is different, so instead of treating it with an over the counter prescription, what chinese medicine does is that it treats it individually, returning health back to individual harmonization or back to homeostasis.

As for Jonnys comment, are you implying that the chinese medicine practise is a mere facade? Is it from experience that you make this comment?
I really like the friendly community feel of harringay online.

It's great isn't it? Even a discussion about dubious medical treatments is quite contained. Now people who are jumping up and down saying "but that's no better than placebo!" please remember that placebo works best with a bit of theatre and it's REALLY good.

remember this classic Simpsons piece

Crowd: We need a cure! We need a cure!

Dr. Hibbert: Why, the only cure is bed rest. Anything I give you would only be a placebo.

Woman in Crowd: Where do we get these placebos?

Man: Maybe there's some in this truck!

[the panicky crowd push over a truck, boxes labeled "danger killer bees" break open, the bees go everywhere and everyone panics, one man puts a bee in his mouth]

Man: I'm cured! I mean, ouch!

It'll settle down once the elections are over
