This seems like a worthwhile initiative which you may be interested in if you live in Bruce grove/Tottenham/seven sisters way.
Chicken Town says:
"Hello from Chicken Town, where we love fried chicken just like you but can think of at least two ways to massively improve it.
First, we’re experimenting with healthier versions of this finger lickin favourite, steaming our free range chicken first, then flash frying in rapeseed oil for much lower fat and even less saturates. Then serving it up with fresh, delicious sides like corn, coconut rice, sweet potatoes and crispy ‘slaw. Sounds posh, but it doesn’t cost posh…our junior special will be sold to local young people at cost – just £2 – to give fried chicken’s biggest fans a healthier choice, with ours packing just 30% of the fat and calorific value of traditional high street fried chicken.
Second, we’re a not-for-profit social enterprise, giving young people in Tottenham good training, prospects and paying the London living wage.
With a little help, Chicken Town can serve up tastier, healthier, happier fried chicken."
