I'm finding this whole thing a bit of a farce. I know the funding is ring fenced, but do people really believe that this is make a difference to underprivileged people in Tottenham?
We live in South Tottenham and whilst I myself find it nice that the area is slowly 'gentrifying' and there's more restaurants to our liking, I don't really think Chicken Town will be one of them. We went there first time last weekend. I'd tried it before, but the take away my children so hoped for was denied when I arrived 2 minutes past closing time (the door was still open). The burgers were nice, but small. The fried chicken was ok - one piece nice, one not so. There were no kids meals on the menu whatsoever on weekends. Considering the prices and what you get for it I found it rather expensive. The service wasn't great either. A bored looking girl just stared back when I was trying to get her attention to order. Nevertheless the place was heaving.
Considering that councils nowadays get their fundings cut to the bones, I find it a rather irresponsible use of tax payers money to use £300.000 of public money to pay for a business which should really be able to work self sufficiently.
In the future I'd rather go to the cafe in Downhills Park again. This really serves the local community and takes the word 'social enterprise' seriously.

No, but reality is that there's more and more 'middle class' families moving to our area as other areas are unaffordable when you have a family and want a bit of space and are not earning millions. And unfortunately there isn't much to go out in regards of nice pubs or family friendly restaurants.

Speaking as someone born and bred in Tottenham, the area is crying out for nice restaurants. Aside from the Beehive and the Antwerp Arms there isn't much in the way of pubs.El Botellon was disappointing I've never been a fan of San Marco.Does anyone know if there are plans for new restaurants/chains in Tottenham?

Do you remember Berndes on Tottenham High Road..? I worked there on Saturdays in the very late 60s, early 70s when at college.

Hiya, it may be before my time as I was born in the 80s.My Mum might recall it.She said there also used to be an M &S in Tottenham before it moved to Wood Green.
