That's why I also added the Facebook page. You should be abel to contact them there. Failing that, ask Dave Morris. He'll know.
Looks like you've stung the Council into action, Gus - www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/consultation-on-chestnuts-comm...
Those who care about the long-standing local community in this area, will no doubt want to help existing users to save Chestnuts Community Centre on St Ann's Road - just down the road from what I notice has now been re-branded 'Salisbury Corner'. As others have mentioned, the council plans to take the Centre from the control of local community groups and put it out to public tender.
This is part of the council's wider plans to 'regenerate' (aka gentrify) the borough, encouraged by some residents and businesses who want to see an uplift in their property investments and profits.
As many long-standing local residents know, the Community Centre has provided services to people living in this area for 25 years: more than thirty, predominately Black-led, groups currently use the building and they will be adversely affected by this decision. The Community Centre has received no direct financial support; in fact the council has received over £300k in rent from the community in the past 25 years.
Anyone who wants to support fellow members of their local community in saving the Centre, or who wants to know more about the services it provides and how important they are to 'Chestnuts People', please spare a couple of hours on Saturday 13th December 11:00-4:00 to come along to the community-led consultation event, and signing/sharing the Change.org petition: https://www.change.org/p/save-chestnuts.
