WHAT ARE GUIDE DOGS LONDON LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for reliable volunteers who would like to support people living with sight loss to become more independently mobile and build up their confidence in getting about in their local community.
With even a couple of hours per week you could make a HUGE impact to a person living with sight loss. Your assistance will help them to achieve their goals and access local services and facilities.
Our My Sighted Guide service trains volunteers to correctly guide someone with vision impairment. The lengths of partnerships vary from 6 weeks to 12months+ and your availability and interests will be matched with a suitable service user. With your support they will learn to
navigate environments and grow in self-confidence – all whilst increasing social interaction for those who may not otherwise wish to leave their home alone.
TRAINING: you will received sighted guide and safeguarding training as well as an induction into the Guide Dogs charity. Full support is given to you once in role to provide you with a great volunteering experience.
