Cheapside Street Fayre Saturday 24th June
Cheapside and Poultry, EC2
One of London's oldest shopping thoroughfares, Cheapside*, closes to traffic and fills with people today for this vibrant street fayre featuring music, performance and free ice cream for kids.
The fayre will include:
A performance stage showcasing cultural organisations supported by the City Bridge Trust, including Roundhouse's Funk da Cirque,
the London Children's Ballet,
the Spare Tyre Steel Band,
the London Irish Pensioners Choir
and the Hoxton Singers.
On street entertainment and animation ranging from jugglers, to dancers and a puppet theatre.
Livery companies demonstrations - from Blacksmiths'with forge and display, Woolmans' with sheep (tbc),Poulters' with poultry and Brewers' company with Brewers dray ride. Also there will be the Farmers' company milking a cow on Milk Street, the Playing Card Makers' company with human playing cards, Hackney carriages old and new, the Firefighters with old and new engines (tbc), the Bowyers and Fletchersdoing archery (tbc), the Farriers shoeing horses and the Gardeners planting a garden.Aleconners will be offering beer tasting.St John's Ambulance tent for demonstrations for adults and children.Music from Guildhall School of Music and Dramastudents
