I urgently need to find a new home for our much loved and elderly cat due to an allergy/asthma in the family.
She is an incredibly sweet and very friendly 15 year old chocolate burmese. She loves sleeping, sitting on knees, and being cuddled - a lot!
She's fine with gentle children but not good with dogs.
She uses a litter tray, and enjoys pottering in the garden but does not roam.
I've tried local cat shelters but its proved difficult due to her age.
She may not have many more years left but during that time would be a very loving companion.
Please let me know if you are interested
thanks.
You have my sympathy! It must be hard to rehome a cat which has been part of your family for so long. I'm not surprised that local cat shelters can't help as sadly they are inundated with cats needing homes. It is very hard on cats to be stuck in rescue places so you're right to try on here for a good home and for her to remain with you until a home is found. (In the meantime, if you need any help with allergy advice tips, just message me, as I have experience as I'm allergic to cats and have elderly cats).
It will help to attract interest if you can add a photo.
I presume she is microchipped and neutered? Remember on rehoming to get the microchip contact details updated to the new owner. Sadly if cats and dogs are not microchipped, they are at risk of being put down if they get lost.
Hopefully someone local with a garden can offer her a good home. An older cat makes a lovely pet. She sounds like a lovely cat!
Also it helps to put up a photo/flyer in local vets. For example, if you give details to Village Vet, they will put the flyer in their North London branches www.villagevet.co.uk (Rosie is the branch co-ordinator and she is very helpful, her email is rosie@villagevet.co.uk)
Hi Justine
thanks for the really helpful tips, and I'd forgotten about getting her microchip details changed.
Eli
here are some pictures of her
Hi Teres,
thanks so much for your offer but I don't think she'd cope well with another cat these days. But I really appreciate your reply.
thank you
Eli
thanks very much for your interest Ellie, but I managed to find a home for her today
Eli
Hi Lauren, thanks so much for all your efforts and sorry for the late reply, I've been offline for a few days. A friend of a friend offered to have her so we took her today. Please apologise to your friend for me
Eli
