How many times have you looked at a map and thought "Crikey, that street layout doesn't 'alf look like an aardvark!"? Well, should you count yourself amongst the folks wot do, you'll be thrilled to learn of the Norwegian Cartozoologic Society.
The society was conceived in 1974 to promote "The science or practice of discovering and studying animals outlined paradigmatically by street layouts as they appear on maps". A site was set up to display the group's work. What a shame that the site exhibits so few examples and appears not to have developed at all since 2003.
There are some interesting comments on the site
