We are looking to re-carpet and paint our staircase. We want to paint the edges of the stairs and have the carpet as a runner / strip down the centre. Do we need to order the carpet and get a fitter separately to painting or is there someone that can do the whole job?
Has anyone done this recently and know of a good carpet shop and fitter. Have checked previous threads but there's nothing that recent.
Thanks in advance!

Hello, we used a great carpet fitter who did ours, we painted the stairs ourselves and he fitted the carpet, he also had it edged for us too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

Batten and WoodWorkx on Holloway Road did our stairs and hallway - small business, pretty decent rates for some first rate flooring (Kerstaint Cobb, Alternative Flooring Co) etc, reasonable lead time and an all round personal service. Would recommend - you might get cheaper deals from the bigger chains, but these guys are good for quality and actually competitive.
Thanks also Abster. I like the range of carpets on their website. Will follow this up too.
I have a carpet question: I am looking for a new carpet for my bedroom and have been told by various suppliers that polypropylene is better than wool as it will stay clean. Surely wool is the best thing to use. Any ideas carpet people?
