Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A lot of pets get frightened and go missing at this time of year. Here are some useful tips from the Mayhew Animal Home.

The 'season' now lasts well over a month. The Young People who amuse themselves all day on the corner of my road have been throwing fireworks at each other since the beginning of October. How they laugh.  Do we shut our pets in for six weeks?

Yes fireworks go on for a long period these days. We keep our cats inside at night throughout the year anyway as we think it reduces the risk of them getting lost or injured. They can go outside during the day. For those who don't usually keep their cats inside at night, it's worth considering keeping them inside at night in the fireworks period. We used to have a dog from the RSPCA for years and she got really scared by fireworks so we tried to block out the noise with music or tv.

I've heard good things about the Thundershirt.  It's a tight-fitting coat for dogs, somehow the hugging pressure has a calming effect.  Money back if returned in six weeks if it doesn't help.
