Granny shopping trolley is the way to go, that and buying fruit, veg and meat more locally!

Well Clive, on the one hand I agree with you that we are the traffic.

But I am lucky. I live very close to Sainsbury's so I can walk there, I don't have small children any more and I don't work full time so I can go during the week. But many people only have weekends on which to do their shopping, and have you tried carrying home a whole family shop on a bike?

So it's not really Sainsbury's fault, but the tarmacing on Green Lanes ?
And there was a rather nice horse and carriage combo parked opposite the wedding photographers - pretty to look at but slowing up the buses in the other direction.

Yes, definitely the problems on Green Lanes which reduced exit capacity from the retail park. The retail park itself seemed no busier than a normal weekend- this was no pre-Christmas shopping bonanza day.

Green Lanes is often terrible on a Sunday- more on street parking is allowed which bungs things up anyway. The work did not look urgent so I can't see why it was scheduled for Sunday. It could have been done in the middle of the night without problems.

I don't know if the whoever organised the works let the retail park know it was going to take place.Perhaps if they did know in advance, they should have used the car park staff to limit the number of car entering the retail park for a while or at the very least put up warning signs stating that severe delays were very likely.

This has been ongoing since Sainsburys and the retail park opened, and it seems that no-one is interested in rectifying the issue.

Solutions?

1. Don't go there at weekends;

2. Don't go there at all;

3. Do your shopping online and get it delivered;

4. Write to Sainsburys/Arena HQ, preferably en masse, to see if anyone higher up takes any notice - after all, if people stop shopping there if will affect profits.

5. Er...that's all from me at this point.

Sainsbury is longer my default supermarket, but there are still a few items there that I can't get at Lidl. So I don't buy much and I walk from Stroud Green. I could use the W5 bus which also goes past my door.

For those who are doing a lot of shopping there and have to drive, the only short term practical answer is to go when its much quieter, such as Mondays, Tuesdays and evenings.

Anyone going on a weekend afternoon is asking for trouble!

I used to shop there nearly every week but now I have a delivery pass with Ocado and only go about once or twice a month. I am saving so much money and time. I did stop going to that Sainsburys at the weekend years ago because it was a nightmare. On one random Wednesday I was stuck in the car park for an hour and was getting worried that I would be late to pick up my son from school. I called the manager while I was in the car park and asked why no one was directing traffic. He told me there were no qualified traffic co-ordinators available and last time he sent untrained staff out one got ran over. But he offered to let me leave my car in the car park and pay for a taxi for me to get to school - which I thought was great customer service.

I'm not sure if it'll have any effect, but it may be worth reporting this issue on the TfL report a roadworks site. IF the set up is smart enough that future works take account of past problems, it may just be worth recording that Sunday is a dumb time to schedule roadworks round that point. Scheduling to minimise disruption is supposed to be part of Boris' new deal.

Oh, wait up, I just tested it and you can only use this system for roadworks that are happening. It can't be used oncer the roadworks are finished.

Err, not, wait up again. It's just a dumb address finder. I put in the postcode for the Beaconsfield (N4 1DZ) to help it locate the address. It auto-added '359 Green Lanes' to the street field, then told me 'street not found'. At first I assumed it was because RW were finished. I tried again and found that if you delete the number auto-added in the street field, it'll offer you a range of addresses. I picked one at random and was rewarded with a little roadworks symbol appearing on the map at GL and Williamson. I clicked that and it was straightforward from there.

I submitted a report.

It may have been asked before - is there no way another exit can be cut through to make a way out via Eade Rd to 7 Sisters Rd? Or via Woodberry Grove? Share the love? Or can they only tip out that sort of traffic onto major roads?

Driving to shop there on a Sunday is probably a one trial learning experience. Surely nobody does it twice? As they are open for such a huge chunk of weekday time, can't even those with three jobs and as many children find a time window in the 142 other hours?
