Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Recently on my walks around local streets, I have noticed a number of cars that have been broken into with the same pattern: a small quarter window is smashed, allowing someone to access the internal door-release and get inside.  Then it happened to me!

I had absolutely nothing of value in the car - at least from a thief's perspective.  They took nothing - not even my sunglasses!  So this wasn't a case of it being partly my fault for leaving something tempting-looking inside the car.  They are simply targeting cars randomly, hoping that something of value will be inside.

I just wanted to highlight this as a reminder to other residents to remove valuables from your cars and not to leave anything tempting in view.

Sorry to hear that Li. My car was got into and ransacked recently, without the window being broken - it's possible I forgot to lock it although I am usualy scrupulous. Again nothing was taken as I don't leave anything worth stealing. Just random theft - probably connected to all the continuing obvious drug dealing on our streets.

I have to concur that they are  not isolated incidents as my neighbour recently had their front small quater window  broken on their 21 year old vehicle, with nothing taken. The car was sat on their drive.

Then a couple of weeks earlier some people stole tools from the other neighbour, who is currently carrying out major renovations.

Despite all 3 houses having visible cameras and alarms!

Just before lockdown I felt an uneasiness and as a full time carer, who also works. I installed 2 cameras, security grill on rollers, steel security grill on rear windows and steel bars over front windows. With a porch already in place.

All done to blend in with the interior, as much as possible, but visible from outside, if anyone is looking! If not then they are not noticeable installations.

All to give some peace of mind and to satisfy a primeval need to create a safe place to rest!

Not sure if either have reported the incidents.
