Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Can someone help me? dead cat in Fairland Park now.
Not sure what to do. I don't want to leave the poor thing there. What is the correct procedure? Put it in a cardboard box? Burial? Might someone claim it? It is on the grass quite near the tennis court. Don't like being the bearer of sad news

Put it in a box and see if there's a collar. If not, ring a vet and ask what they suggest.

Local vet is good plan, they generally know all the local cats and will defo know what to do. Was once told off by a local vet for not calling them in these circumstances. poor kitty

Call the council's environmental protection people. They'll take it - esp if its in one of their parks. 020 8489 1000.

Vet or council will be able to scan it and see if it has a microchip.
Sad, but good for you for taking responsibility and not just leaving it there.

Well, have rung the Council and one is referred to Veolia for collection. The cat has no collar. He/she is mainly black with white back legs (lower half). Reasonably big but not huge. Medium fluffy. RIP. Someone must have left the cat in the park

Well done for posting herem Laura. Someone might be missing this cat, and now they stand a chance of finding out what happened to their pet.
Does the cat look like it's been injured or ran over? It seems a peculiar thing to do to leave a dead cat in a park. And cats hide away if they're feeling weak or unwell, so it's unlikely it's just plonked itself in the park if not feeling too good.
