Can Haringey Council Mobile CCTV Unit help the Ladder?
A posting on another local site has led me to wonder about the role of Haringey's mobile CCTV unit:
Niall Bolger, Director of Urban Environment has written to Lynne Featherstone MP regarding the complaint about motorists ignoring the 'No Entry' sign at junction of Park Avenue South and Park Road, close to the foot of Muswell Hill.
He says that "the CCTV mobile unit is monitoring this junction and will enforce any vehicles contravening the 'No Entry' sign. I trust that this deterrent will be effective in resolving this issue".

Using a mobile unit as a deterrent to prevent traffic violations is the unit's raison d'etre I guess, but this posting has led me to wonder about the range of violations it aims to deter. If activity around a no entry sign, why not illegal use by lorries or speeding?
Worth checking what Haringey's policy is. So I've dropped Niall a line and will let you all know what response I get.

Can we add to that monitoring the bus lane on Green Lanes so that Iceland don't park their lorries in it every morning from 7am? It's a completely pointless lane now - as Iceland deliveries appear to regard it as their private parking space, rendering it useless from 7am until 8/8.30 daily. I tried endlessly to get the council to take some action but apart from issuing tickets (which Iceland just put down as the cost of business), they would not do anything more.

So there is NO incentive for the council to do anything about it as that would deprive them of revenue.

You need to catch them entering and leaving the street. The first line of defence a skip truck company will use when I ring them up is to check if they have any skips in the street I am talking about.
They are almost always breaking the speed limit though so that might be a way to catch them.
