We recently went to the London Problem Orientated Partnership awards. Last year we were runners up with our anti Burglary project.
I was very impressed by a presentation given by the Cycling Task Force who have significantly reduced push bike thefts in Central London.
Part of their talk promoted a website called www.bikeregister.com where you can record the details of your bike, add pictures and receive a log book much like a car's V5 document.
It has benefits over www.immobilise.com as it is bike specific although we still strongly encourage people to register their other valuable items on immobilise.
Bike register has many tools available to police to verify the lawful ownership of a bike, track stolen bikes and maximise the opportunities of returning stolen bikes to their owners.
I will be registering my bike this evening and would recommend others do so too.
