Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Haringey People [Nov 09 ] page 32:

"We want your opinion on how land or buildings in the Borough could be developed/used in the future"

I was immediately reminded of the work done by OAE in attempting to obtain support for regeneration of the strip of land fronting the Jewson store adjacent to Harringay Station. I intend to submit photos of that land to ldf@haringey.gov.uk [LDF - Local Development Framework]. There must be many such pockets of land the improvement of which would lead to a better Haringey.

Paul, you also might think about sending them to alex.grear@haringey.gov.uk. He is the Better Haringey Programme Manager who is organising the 'Clean Sweep' due to take place between Nov 23-28 throughout Harringay ward.

Hope you're feeling better.
Good idea, Paul. I did glance over the HP 'sites page' but didn't make the connection with Jewson's Gaza strip. I wasn't able to make the LCSP meeting on Thursday though, much as PeterPiper suggests, I'd thought of the strip getting some attention from next week's Clean Sweep. I think you're right: the whole place needs some more serious transformation than 'Making the Difference' scheme could cope with. Afraid I can't trace my old negatives of those 15-20 photos I took in Spring 2007 for the MtD bid. Meanwhile the whole place is not only falling apart as it has been since the '80s at least but stinking like any old rubbish tip would. I'm sure if any residential property owner let their frontage deteriorate like that for decades, the Council would be on to them. It seems by-laws and Deeds from 1887 about road frontage cut little ice with LBH as far as Jewson or Network Rail are concerned.
