The E family ventured out for lunch at Cafe Bistro last Friday. 

Lots of folk were opting for coffee and snacks on the terrace, watching the world go by, but we ventured into the simply decorated interior for lunch. 

We went for the 2 course £7.50 lunch with the kids sharing one lunch between the two of them. My starter of garlic mushrooms could have gone easy on the bechamel and been bolder with the garlic, but Mr E's soup with lamb shish was pronounced delicious and the kids wolfed a plate of delicate calamari. 

Main course for the kids was a lasagne with salad which they also polished off without complaint, Mr E had falafel and rice which looked good, and he assured me tasted good too. My penne had a satisfyingly spicy arrabiata sauce served with chunks of chicken. 

With decent coffee, apple juices and a large bottle of fizzy water, the bill came to about £30. Service was friendly and efficient.

Bread provided throughout the meal. No highchairs that I could see, but child friendly food and atmosphere

4 of us had a great meal at Cafe Bistro last night - starters whitebait, grilled sardine, lambs liver and spinach soup - mains sea bass, salmon, kofta and spinach feta pancake all beautifully cooked and superbly presented - the evening menu is a little dearer than lunch - £11.50 - but really worth it - a bottle of Pino Grigio went down really well - our waiter from Brazil was a true professional.  Try and get along there - there's so much to choose from and it's all freshly cooked

Its great!!! Have been 4 times since it opened!!
