as if we don't have enough to deal with with regards to the traffic issue. I now don't feel safe living here ! I was burgled on Tuesday this week around 6:45pm, it was broad daylight and they threw a brick through my window, they made a real mess and took a lot of valuable items.
My neighbours opposite saw 2 Eastern European guys at my property but didn't imagine that was what they were up to as the pretended to walk away and then obviously came back when my neighbours drove away.
I find it hard to believe that nobody saw this happening !!! They must have thrown the brick from the path going by the impact and it would have made a great noise.
I think its up to all of us to look out for our neighbours and not turn a blind eye, this could happen to you. We should be more community spirited.
As a consequence, we are thinking of moving, i can't live in an area where I feel threatened.

very sorry to hear this Lindylou, horrendous that people can be so brazen as to throw a brick through your window in broad daylight. I live at the top of beresford rd, didn't see anything i'm afraid. Just wanted to lend my support, we were burgled a few years ago and it's very unsettling, just kept consoling ourselves with the fact that no one was injured.
thank you so much for your support, it means a lot to me.
I too used to live down on beresford rd, #121. We had a few incidents where our door was nearly kicked in twice by the same guys, police picked them up twice within 2 months, both eastern european, one massive and average guy, they also kicked off a few door mirrors from cars further up the street, they were later picked up on Alison rd trying another door. If it sounds like the same guys and close to 121 then feel free to message me, I think I still have the crime ref number and the police could follow it up from the history files. We moved not long after that but not necessarily because of that, we liked living there for 2 years and that's the only incident we had so don't be too hasty, get one of these

easy to mount and fix as it's wireless, it's a great deterrent.
And a wireless ip camera that will plug into your router is great, we have one facing out the window and is motion triggered to take photos when someone approches the door.

Has infrared too so records well at night. I know it maybe too late once they get in and steal stuff but at least you will have the time and photos of the person/s who broke in.
And before I'm jumped on regarding how I know where they were from it was in police report, nationality etc
Those systems look interesting - do they need a paid-for phone sub or something, if it's going to send out a phone message when triggered?
Hi Pamish, the alarm just runs a cable to your phone line port, it rings once it has been triggered, it can ring mobiles or landlines and up to 3 numbers. Very easy to install if you have a half day.
really sorry to hear of this, there have always been a lot of burglaries on the ladder at least as long as i have been living here (on warham, but not as a consequence of me living here, i might add ;-) but while of course we shouldn't have to think this way, i have noticed it tends to be the houses that look like there is plenty worth stealing, like big flat tv screens or big expensive looking pc monitors or laptops visible through the bay windows or also the places with lots of people coming and going, the ones let room by room... these scum bags do watch the houses and see when people are leaving for work etc... yes there are a lot of dodgy scumbags around here, i see them all the time walking and cycling up and down the roads, looking in peoples gardens and windows for anything to steal. if you decide to stay, try to keep the house a bit discrete with blinds on the front windows or frosted glass if you don't like blinds, the frosted glass film also helps stop the glass smashing all over the place! and always double lock the front door with mortice lock, and get a 'london bar' fitted to door frame to add a bit more strength, if they really want to get in they will, but make it harder for them, some people just leave their house on the latch lock and a good kick will have that open!!! x
