Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

In need of some advice.

Our chimney breast had been removed from the ground floor (our flat) and the first floor before we moved in. This left the chimney stack in the loft and above the roof. However, a large crack has appeared in the chimney above the roof and on closer inspection, it turns out the remaining chimney stack had been sitting on nothing more than wooden sleepers laid across the beams in the loft.

We now need to secure this properly which will include steels and the removal of much of the remaining chimney breast both above and below the roof. We have been quoted £2200 for the job by our freeholder (who is sorting it) of which we will need to pay half.

My question is, has anyone had this done as a single job and does this sound like a reasonable amount for the job in hand? There will be 3 story high scaffold needed and we have been told it will take 4 days.

Any advice would be amazing. Anyone in the trade think they can better this quote then please feel free to come round and quote for the job!

Thanks.
