Builder recommendations for side return extension on the ladder
Hi there,
Can anyone recommend any builders? We have just got permission for side return / rear extension and are looking for good local recommendations.

Try Accolade.
They are doing work at our house at the moment, and they have just finished a side return / rear extension at our neighbours. They are excellent.
Ask for Renata, and say David Jones recommended them.

I am sorry to say but we followed up on this and arranged for a surveyor to come out to a property we are buying. The surveyor never turned up, wasting both my families and the vendors morning. The most frustrating thing was that they didnt respond to our voicemails or emails or apologise for wasting our time.

We used Partner Build for a full kitchen renovation and new cloakroom. They were very good and we'd use them again.

Just wanted to respond to this recommendation for Partner Build, who did a kitchen and bathroom renovation for us several years ago. We were more or less happy with it at the time, but we've just had a gas safety inspection and discovered that they did not connect up the gas hob properly, and as a result the engineer discovered a gas leak which has been there for who knows how long. They used a flexible hose rather than a rigid copper pipe, and the wrong kind of connectors, apparently. So a note of caution - if you use them, it is a good idea to get an independent person in to inspect all the gas things. (And the electricity - apparently something is wrong with the electrical connections coming out of the oven but that isn't the gas engineer's responsibility to fix - he's just alerted us to it.)

Not the same company, but we had exactly the same experience when having our extension done. The gas leak was spotted 5 years later by a gas engineer who'd come to check the boiler. Ended up paying to get it corrected, even though we'd received a sign off at the time from a CORGI gas registered guy that the builder knew. Also problems with the electrics being incorrctly wired. All sorted now but Just something to be aware off - but recommendations on here are usually great - unfortunately HoL wasnt around back then. in fact the guy who fixed our gas connection (Rob Murray) was a recommendtaion from here so you could always get him to check it for the sign off - all the best.
