Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

We would really like to get the front and back of our house painted, we also need some work on the window cills and porch. There seems to be a lot of houses being painted at the moment and wondered if anybody could make some recommendations. We have had one quote which seemed a bit ridiculously overpriced.

There is a guy who has done a lot of houses in Lausanne including ours last year and just gets jobs from people asking him when he is working. He is called Gedas, white spiked hair, so keep an eye out. I might have a number but he is always around. He is very well priced indeed eg 500 for front of house. Message me if you want details.

Hi, would you be able to pass that chap's number onto me. I'm looking for someone to paint a ceiling and also to paper line the walls of one room.

£500 is rather cheap considering the quotes I have had. Is that with or without painting the brickwork?

I have received several quotes of between £800-900 to paint the front of my Ladder house: timber sash windows, the masonry surrounds, doorway, door and guttering i.e. everything but the brickwork. Some filling is required. Paint used would be Dulux Weathershield. I can't recall how long the job would take, but I imagine around 3 days.

I initially thought the quotes were rather high, but if they're all coming in around the same price, I've come to accept it must be the going rate. Annoyingly, when I read threads like this, it makes me question those quotes...

Ours has PVC windows so just brickwork and masonry and was not in a bad state. It can vary massively. I own a flat nearby in a 3 storey terrace and had to pay 1/4 share of 10 grand as there was scaffolding and managing agents getting their arm in out of my control. Ouch. However as I said I agree with jonny 200 a day is reasonable plus materials whoever you get. If standard issue colours the materials are cheap.
We were quoted 3 times that amount, jenny if you could find his contact details that would be superb.
07531 649211 is the last number I had. If no luck on that let me know as I see him all the time around. My suggestion is start with a small job and he may suggest you need more done and if you think its a good price then everyone's happy.
And I agree with jonny. It is that price as it takes him 2 or 3 days.
Depends on the state of it in the first place.
Im using Nick Norris (07764 749182)He's a carpenter, painter, and sculptor. He's changing all our doors to fire doors till Tuesday. Then doing some exterior work for us next month. Used him for years In all my properties. he's a perfectionist but works quick and does great job. rates wise he's very reasonable. He's in the area tomorrow as he's finishing off. I would definitely recommend him.
