Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi,

I'm trying to get my head around the Blue Badge / Companion Badge. Am I right in thinking that you can theoretically use both at the same time for 2 cars (though this might be against the rules, but cannot be easily spotted?)

Background of the question: we've got a disabled neighbour, but it seems that up to 4 cars / vans are parked with badges by people living in this 1 bed flat. Not sure how it works at present, but I believe that one might be the person's blue badge, then a companion badge, then another relative's badge (I know 1-2 are from a different borough) and I'm not sure where the 4th is coming from.

Hi, the companion badge is linked to a specific vehicle, and checks are made on the owner’s connection to that vehicle before it is issued. The registration number of the relevant car is stated on the face of the badge and is not transferable. The blue badge can be used by a person with disability, whichever vehicle they may need to use. So yes, in theory you could be (mis)using both at once although misuse of either badge is an offence

Can you be sure that the four vehicles are connected to one resident? You can always refer the matter to the council for further  investigation.

Hi, thanks for clarifying. I am sure all 4 are connected to one property in which one adult with disabilities lived, but I believe they’re getting another one from another person (ie one of the adult’s child who doesn’t live there and is not always using the car the badge is used in).
