Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A (rather belated) big thank you to everyone who came along to the Friends of Railway Fields' first dawn chorus walk earlier this month. We really appreciate your support and your generous donations will help us to continue our conservation work and put on future events.

It was wonderful to see the sun come up and to hear a multitude of birds sing forth. Oliver, our guide, helped us to identify numerous birds by their song including the tuneful blackcap, the wren (tiny bird, big voice), the blackbird, the robin, the blue tit and great tit, the sparrow and the wood pigeon.

If you're interested in birds but couldn’t quite face the 5am start, here’s a very brief taster...

If you fancy getting outdoors this weekend we'll be running our monthly conservation session on Saturday morning from 10am - all are welcome and activities will include making bug habitats for visiting school groups to explore. Find out more here.

What a foul, noisesome, smoke filled and polluted area we live in!

I wake up to this every morning!

So sorry you have to put up with that - why can't the Council do something about it!

I wouldn't mind if they started a wee bit later...

Love it at Railway Fields. Saw newts in the pond there 2 weeks ago. Newts! I'd forgotten newts existed. Last year I did some butterfly survey volunteering with my little girls who loved it (I need to get on the case with joining in this year - I will get around to it soon, Railways Fields butterfly people!).

Hi Pete, glad to have your help again this year whenever you can manage it. Hope you and the girls are well - we're planning a family event with lots of fun activities on 27 July which they might enjoy, more details tbc.

We're always looking for volunteers to help with surveying/monitoring the wildlife at Railway Fields, so if anyone else is interested do get in touch.
