At the beginning of September, our large green food waste bin went missing from the front of the house. It's happened a few times before, and I reported it straight away. I knew we wouldn't receive it for 10 working days, but didn't mind too much as we still had our small black kitchen caddy which we were able to leave outside to be emptied during the interim period.
15 working days passed, no bin. To add to the problem, the kitchen caddy was now broken too (apparently crushed under our wheelie bin by overzealous refuse collectors), which meant we no longer had any way of recycling our food waste. So I contacted Veolia again on 18th October to complain that I was still waiting for a food waste bin, and to order a new kitchen caddy. They responded to tell me that 'as a matter of urgency I have passed on your request to the recycling department for immediate attention.'
On 17th November, 37 working days since I ordered the large food waste bin, and 22 working days since I ordered a kitchen caddy, I still hadn't received either and made yet another complaint. I was then assured I would have both delivered today.
This morning, they delivered a large food waste bin (hooray!) but somehow still managed to fail to deliver the kitchen caddy! Instead, rather mysteriously they gave us a lid for our recycling box (which I didn't order, or need). Exasperating.
I don't understand what the problem is. Although Enterprise weren't great, they were never this bad. How hard is it to deliver a kitchen caddy? I haven't actually contacted Veolia about this yet, as it's getting a bit ridiculous (it will be my third complaint, in writing) and I'm on the brink of giving up and buying one from elsewhere, but the bottom line is I shouldn't have to - it's meant to be provided by the council free of charge. The whole debacle doesn't send out a very good message about the council (or Veolia's) attitude towards recycling.

Sorry to hear of the problems you are having with Veolia. If you want to drop me an email with your details I can chase things up for you.
My email is karen.alexander.haringeylibdems@gmail.com.
Happy to help if I can.
In the meantime, we somehow have two kitchen caddies and large food waste bins, so you're welcome to ours if that would be helpful -- just drop me a private message. Good luck!
I have had loads of problems getting a new garden waste bag. It has taken many emails and I eventually got a response when I threatened to raise the matter with my local councillor on the basis that I was paying tax for a service which I was not getting. Also, I think some 'rag and bone' people who follow the bin lorries steal the sacks - I cannot think why, but there can be no other explanation for the fact that several have gone missing. I do not know why Veolia cannot place them in the green bin after they have been emptied. That way they would hopefully not go missing and we would not be paying for endless replacement through our Council Tax.
Last week they did not take away the food waste - this has happened often and I was quite simply too fed up to write ad complain.
