Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Warning to ladderites that bike thieves are active again.  I left my electric bike locked up outside our house last night on Fairfax and it was gone today.  I should have heeded the warnings and not left it outside where it was so visible but hindsight is a great thing.  I realise there is high demand for bikes at the mo so if yours is left out in your front yard or garden you might want to think again.

I notice that there is also no availability in any of the local bike hangers either :(

I’d be interested in bidding for a bike hangar for Fairfax - anyone else?

Me!  I've already registered on cycle hoop for one on Fairfax, more people who do the same more successful it is likely to be.  This is the link: https://cyclehoop.force.com/RentalsCommunity/suggestlocation

I've been on the waiting list for over 3 years and no sign of a bike space. Feels the council isn't really encouraging cycling...

Haringey have absolutely zero interest in  cycling. You will get no response from your local councillors, and if you contact your MP you will be told all cycling and walking improvements are contingent on TfL funding.

You will also be told you can find more info in their "Cycling Action Plan", the draft of which will be "available later this year", and has been "available later this year" for the last 3 years.

Jezza, There is indeed a Cycling Action Plan.
A quick search finds it on the Council's website here.
That takes you to a pdf file dated 19 May 2005. (As often this document is undated but as part of the fun of dealing with the Council you can solve their challenging puzzle and detect the original date.)

My search also found the a detailed document in January 2018 called the:
"Progress update on the Scrutiny Cycling Review Recommendations"

Done!

Sorry to hear that. Sad when you can’t even keep an electric bike outside

tbh I've had so many bikes stolen over the years, that I only keep them outside for a very short time, and if it’s out all day, it will be my oldish bike with 2 locks on it. And always keep both my bikes in the flat

Issue these days, that offenders use battery powered grinders. Which are able to cut through the majority of cables and chains

So it be in the open shed of Bike store, they are steal able

Saw a report that the Police have discovered many stolen bikes. following someone seeing their bike for sale on the internet

Sure a search will find how to check if they have yours

Thanks Bob, I checked the Met website and they seized these bikes in Hackney just before mine was stolen so no connection there.  Appreciate the shout though!

Money that those caught are just one of many

And after Raid similar groups are still operating

Issue these days even locking bikes in Sheds / garages does not stop them

Remember seeing a TV report that a Art Student had painted her Bike. So Only She would ride it. Remember others painting theirs so they  also stood out
