Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

In the past I've recommended the Big Green Bookshop authors' events. I now suggest early booking to make sure you get tickets!  Recent talks by Owen Jones (The Establishment") , Nick Davies ("Hack Attack") and Ray Jones ("The Story of Baby P")  were packed out. Tim West at the bookshop tells me the talk by Sali Hughes and India Knight sold out on the first day.

Great news for the bookshop. But disappointing if you miss out. (Though they have a reserve list.)

I made them a suggestion for a Hackney-based author they might like to invite.  Maybe HoL members have other local author suggestions. If so, their website is here.  I very much enjoy the opportunity to hear authors in person.  How about you?

It's a lovely place to read. I launched my memoir The Great Below - the story of my husband Michael Donaghy's death and my journey with grief- there a few weeks ago and they were fantastically welcoming.

..and Julie Burchill with Suzanne Moore. That sold out on the day. Disappointed to find no pickets.

BGBS have also launched a fab new scheme to support local authors, with space set aside to showcase local writers' books. Including my debut novel Until Our Blood is Dry (Parthian Books, 2014). Shameless plug.
