The CEO of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Stephen Hester, has joined his boss the Chairman, in declining the (controversial) big bonus he was expecting (£963,000 shares-only payment). Mr Hester's salary is £1,200,000 p.a.
Would he have done this without the outcry, I wonder? And where is all that money going now? Back to the taxpayer? Questions need to be asked.
Mr Goodwin is no longer a knight of the realm, having had his gong withdrawn. Fred received the honour under the previous government for services to banking. He certainly serviced banking.
Next, can we please have Lord Archer de-enobled?
Unlike Jeffrey Archer, Fred Goodwin appears to have committed no criminal offence, but I can't help feeling many members of the economy would like to see him publicly caned.
In these cases shouldn't the Queen have to use the dubbing sword to shred and behead the wretches in a public display of regal anger?
Will bankers bonuses be capped at £26000 ?
