Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The Royal Society of Arts London Region announces the third annual Youth Awards for Innovation in Youth Provision in London.

The sum of £5,000 has been allocated by the London Regional Committee, to be awarded as one sum of £2,000, two further sums of £1,000, and two of £500 (or otherwise as the judges may decide) for projects submitted by youth groups and similar bodies which may improve or further facilities and activities for young people between the ages of 12 and 18 years over and above standard educational provision.

This announcement follows the successful introduction of the Award in 2008, which was made in co-operation with the parliamentary youth organisation Kidscount. Last year £2,000 was given to a young people’s group in Hackney, who made a short film reflecting aspects of their lives on the Fawcett estate.

The formal presentation in May 2008 was made in cooperation with the youth organisation Kidscount, on the Terrace of the House of Lords, by Rt Hon Jim Knight MP, then Minister of State for Schools and Learners. In 2009 the presentation was made by the Rt Hon Theresa May MP with Darren Campbell (Olympic champion) and Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet).

Terms and Conditions are attached. All arrangements and the adjudication are overseen by Fellows of the Royal Society of Arts.

The deadline for applications, to be submitted in the format described in the Terms and Conditions will be Monday 8th February 2010. The 2010 Awards presentation will take place on Wednesday, 10th March at a venue to be confirmed.

Participation is invited, and it will be helpful to receive an indication of intention to make a submission as soon as is practicable. Applications should be made on the form which will be supplied by the Administrator of the London Region, Elinor Pritchard, through e-mail: youthrsalondon@thevirtualpartnership.co.uk

The committee member responsible for the Award is Anthony Earl: anthonyjearl@googlemail.com, and the Director of Kidscount is Linda Lawrence: linda@kidscount.org.uk
