Beware Covid pass scam
I got an email today purporting to be from the NHS regarding obtaining digital Covid passes. As I have already downloaded mine, I didn't do anything, but initially it seemed quite convicing, apart from being rather too chatty. However it became clear on reading that it's a scam and no doubt will demand payment at some point.

There is a bogus download which gives a convincing fake NHS covid pass on your phone which non-vaxxers (for whatever reason) are buying, rather than getting their free jabs. I don't know how many have been downloaded but it almost certainly runs into thousands, the bar-code is fake, but users work on the pretence that when it doesn't register at checkpoints they'll just get waved through anyway. It's a shame such people are selfish enough to possibly spread the virus without compunction, and that (according to sources) 90% of Covid cases in NHS hospitals are made up of non-vaxxed people.

I hate this. I'm immune compromised and have felt a bit more confidence to get out and about now that some venues require a Covid pass. But so many people think it's ok to bend or break the rules, and don't think about who they might harm in the process. I volunteer at a vaccination centre and yesterday we had three people turn up for their appointments who had spent Christmas abroad and not waited for their PCR result before breaking quarantine and leaving home. Quite well-spoken people who just thought the rules shouldn't apply to them.
