Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Lockdown has seen sourdough starters multiply. Natural yeast has led to natural yippees. Many an amateur sourdough baker has been born.

Now it's time for to find out who is the greatest. (In a friendly, local, post-lockdown way.) Because not everything Covid-19 has given us is bad.

St Paul's Harringay is delighted to be able to host our annual Harringay Village Fete this year, on Saturday 3rd July, 12-4pm. We're not pretending Harringay is a rural village; we're just bringing some of the best rural village traditions to Harringay. We'll have a bouncy castle and a craft table for kids, a tombola, barbecue, cake stall and Christian book table. If you'd like to enter a sourdough loaf please drop them off before the judging at 3pm.

Your local vicar will be entering a loaf of his own. I'm very much hoping it won't be a flat flop. But, knowing my baking, it might be.

May the best loaf win!

Oh, I do some pretty good sourdough but I'm away camping that weekend! What a great idea though.

Sadly I've had to cancel the Harringay Village Fete this year due to a truly awful weather forecast: thunder and lighting all afternoon on Saturday! It had to be an outdoor event due to Covid, so we have no wet weather options.

Thank you to Max from the Dusty Knuckle bakery who was going to be our guest judge in the baking competitions, and to all who were enthusiastically preparing things to bring along.

I will open the St Paul's Church building for anyone to have a look around on Saturday from 12-4pm, and will be on hand to drink tea and chat. Please drop in if you like.

We are beginning plans for 2022's Harringay Village Fete!
