Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Are there any others being woken at obscene hours by Veolia commercial waste rtams

I have been in ongoing discussions with one of the managers at Veolia due to their drivers arriving before 6am to collect from the restaurants on Grand Parade. Someone is being ignored.... either him or me. Some other residents' names might help in my negotiations.

The collections are from the alleys behind the restaurants, so next to residential properties.

Given the size of the bins and nature of the waste (glass etc) these collections are incredibly noisy.

They arrived at 5.30 am on Friday morning and 5.40 this morning (a public holiday). I have had collections as early as 4.30am during the summer months.

The pickups get earlier in the summer. I imagine that the drivers get to knock off after their round and want to make the most of the weather.

I am in the Gardens but assume this happens across the area.

The noise team might be able to help as what these d**kheads are doing must be in contravention of byelaws. But tough to organise their presence.

yep they've collected our bins at 5.45am before from burgoyne road!

domestic collection. as they were collecting I was lying in bed wondering whether they really are allowed to collect so early as it makes so much noise. but then i thought about living in Edinburgh where they collected the bins at 3am some mornings.

the only reason why i did not make a complaint to the council is that they seem to collect early from burgoyne once in a while and not every week. perhaps they alternate which roads get the antisocial collection. i have also wondered whether the bin men have no choice but to collect really early as they have so many roads to fit in in just one day, maybe their current budget does not allow them to do the collection over two days and therefore they have too much for one day and have to start very early...

ha maybe it is wishful thinking on my part - that they are not as insensitive as they may seem :)

I've contacted Veolia on a number of occasions about how the bins are put back having been emptied. I live in a basement flat and it's not uncommon for me to be literally barricaded in by the empty bins -  we have 2 large and 2 regular sized bins for the 3 flats in our building that they continually put across the steps to my flat instead of their designated area. I've e-mailed them photos and they still haven't resolved the issue.
