Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Asda troubles to blame for delayed opening of Harringay and Finsbury Park Stores but there may be hope

According to a recent report in the Daily Telegraph, as the weeds have been growing outside the half-completed Asda in the former Queen's Head, the supermarket has been struggling to recover from adverse trading conditions that have seen its market share tumble.

The paper reported that, "...after years of turmoil, there were signs that things were starting to turn".

A series of photos of the Harringay store by Jeff Gilbert were used in the report to illustrate the abandoned look of half-finished stores across the country. A photo of grafitti on the former pub with the message “Please open Asda” was used to depict residents' frustration at the lack of progress.

Asda’s chairman Allan Leighton believes the company has turned a corner and the article concluded that there is hope of the Harringay store opening (but it gave no clue as to when that might happen).

! Asda Everyday Tea Bags—12 months ago—were top rated by Which?

Asda’s Everyday Tea Bags (£1.20 for 80 bags) nabbed the top spot, along with Which?’s Best Buy and Great Value endorsements, with an impressive score of 72 per cent. The panel gave it high marks for aroma and appearance, with more than two-thirds (68%) judging the colour as spot-on. Flavour-wise, around half (49%) found it just right.

Looks like its now open. Quite small and still looks uninviting.
