Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

From Property Magazine:

LaSalle today announces that it has acquired the Arena Shopping Park in Haringey. The purchase price was £53.0 million, giving a 5.34% net initial yield. The Arena Shopping Park property comprises 115,915 sq ft of retail space, with unrestricted open A1 planning consent, including food, and is let to Homebase, Sports Direct, Royal Mail, Carphone Warehouse, Subway, Costa Coffee, Dreams, Fitness First, Argos, Peacocks, Superdrug and Next. Located on Green Lanes (A105), adjacent to Harringay Green Lanes Rail Station, the scheme is anchored by an adjacent Sainsbury's foodstore.

No shortage of money to solve the traffic probelms then....

So from that notice I gather Sainsburys isn't considered part of Arena?  I wish they could all work out better traffic flow there somehow.  Was another entrance ever considered at the back of Sainsburys on Finsbury Park Avenue, the road off Hermitage Road?  Probably not popular with the people who live on those two streets I suppose, but to the area as a whole I would imagine that if it were to be done intelligently it could hugely improve the very nasty traffic problems on Arena/Green Lanes/Endymion Road junctions.  I'm probably being too ambitious.

This was discussed a couple of years ago and was not apopular suggestion :-

" I live off Hermitage Road. I was therefore pretty annoyed to be told last week by a Sainsbury's employee that an additional exit would be opened from the car park onto Finsbury Park Avenue. This would funnel cars onto Hermitage Road and block the only vehicle exit for hundreds of residences in the area. "

and:

" Until a few weeks ago cars were exiting via Finsbury Park Avenue anyway. They were driving through a pedestrian gate and over the pavement to do it, but hey-ho. It didn't make any difference whatsoever to the congestion in the area.

All it meant was that Finsbury Park Avenue and Hermitage Road were no go zones, and made me feel very sorry for the people living there."

There was also the problem that part of Finsbury Park Avenue is a private road.
