Can you just confirm that - are you saying Barley has been in kennels for 4 years??
That's awful
Thanks Rebecca. Yes Barley came into rescue in 2013 when he was about 6 years old and he is now about 10 years old. He has been in rescue kennels for about 4 years now, waiting for a home. During that period, volunteers walk him and the other dogs in kennels needing homes. Plus volunteers also give Barley weekend breaks in their own home whenever they can and he thrives when he gets to stay in a cosy home. He also loves quiet time for sleeping because it's so noisy in kennels. When a volunteer has time off work, they will have Barley to stay for a week at home, which he loves.
On the website, each dog has updated pages of photos and bulletins - Barley's extends to 13 pages - here is a link to Barley's latest page 13 which shows, for example, Barley having a walk on 4th March 2017 (and also shows photos of him having a weekend break in a volunteer's home at the end of January 2017). You can join the Rescue Remedies Forum directly to ask about Barley on his page, or email a contact form and for anyone interested in offering a permanent home, here are Homing Questionnaire details.
Like all rescues, Rescue Remedies are always looking for fosterers too (for looking after a dog on a temporary basis) and here are Fostering Details
Barley still desperately needs a permanent home and he's a very special little dog. Photos below of Barley when he has had a weekend break from kennels.
Thank you so much - I love the fact that fostering can be done on weekends. I am looking at securing the garden first then will consider fostering. It's such a great idea for those not able to commit 24/7 to a dog. I see there in Twickenham so not too far away either.
That's great, Rebecca.
Just an update - sadly poor little Barley has died. He had been waiting so long in kennels for someone to offer him a good home - over 4 years waiting. Volunteers gave him weekend breaks or holiday breaks at home whenever they could, but he would have loved a home of his own. So sad for such a lovely little dog and so many other dogs waiting for homes.
Pup Aid is taking place at Primrose Hill on Saturday 2nd September. The event is jam-packed with fun for all the family, especially the four legged members. A celebrity judged dog show, agility course, doggy displays and plenty of stalls, Pup Aid continues to be the biggest puppy welfare event of the year.
Pup Aid is a fun dog show organised by a group of dog-loving volunteers who work tirelessly towards ending the cruel practice of puppy farming. Pup Aid’s aim is simply to educate the British public about the correct way to get a dog, either by adopting a rescue dog, or by visiting a responsible breeder where you will always see the puppy interacting with it’s mother. Each year this very special day gives the dog-loving public, the golden opportunity to help raise awareness about the UK’s cruel puppy farming trade by attending this amazing celebrity judged fun dog show.1000 people and their pooches attended last year. Over 65 exhibitors - charitable stalls & boutique doggy shops. Loads of celebrities to judge the dog show.

Please contact All Dogs Matter if you are interested in offering a dog a permanent home - Rehoming Questionnaire. They would love to hear from you. Home checks apply.
If you can't offer a permanent home to a dog, can you offer a temporary foster home? Like all rescues, ADM need foster carers - as they have dogs who need temporary foster homes until permanent homes can be found. Fostering Questionnaire
This little dog Clare was found in a terrible state on 23rd October 2018 and urgently needs a foster home. The vets estimate she's between 12 and 15 years old. Her nails are completely overgrown, and her teeth are in the worse state. She has cataracts and a tumour. All Dogs Matter would love to get her into a foster home even for a few weeks. She would need to be the only dog in the home - as she can't see well so she can get startled by other dogs. ADM are looking for a home for her ideally around North London, Essex or Hertfordshire borders (so that near to their vets in Muswell Hill). If you are interested in rehoming/fostering Clare, please call ADM on 020 8341 3196 or email info@alldogsmatter.co.uk
