Footie-phobes interested in other aspects of South African culture might enjoy the Arcola's midsummer Athol Fugard double bill. Calendar Girls' Linda Bassett stars in The Road To Mecca, a play about a widow's struggle for self-expression in a conservative Afrikaner village. Run ends July 10. And in tiny Studio Two, Nadim 'Julia's dad' Sawalha steals the show as a ghost granddad in Coming Home, in which a mother dying of Aids secures a future for her son. Show ends on July 3.
