The annual 'Architect in the House' has just launched. Run with charity Shelter, the scheme is designed to boost the profile of the profession of architects and help a worthwhile charity at the same time.
The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) who run the scheme say, "Is there something you’d like to change about your home? Knowing where to start can be tricky. But Architect in the House provides an exciting answer - and taking part is brilliantly easy.".

I used Architect in the House' with Shelter, a few years ago and I found it very useful. The architect I met from it then very quickly pointed out a great architectural solution to my problem and I loved the idea of simultaneously supporting Shelter. It is a win-win idea.
I am a 'nearly an architect' and I highly recommend this. Also keep an eye out for Tea With An Architect: http://teawithanarchitect.com/
The annual Open House London has opened its listings with lots of properties in LB Haringey and in neighbouring boroughs. Listings here: http://events.londonopenhouse.org/Venues?q=&boroughIds=13
Note some are pre-book only. Open House also require volunteers for any eager locals free for a few hours. Last year I was a volunteer at the Lordship Park eco building.
