Anyone lose a cat?
We've had a young tabby-type cat living in our back garden on Waldegrave Road for the last week or so now. We're growing slightly concerned because he/she is often spending the whole day and night outside our back door and shows signs of having had a recent operation, and we're not sure how often he/ she is eating. The cat looks well cared for and has a collar but no name tag. Anyone know someone with a missing cat matching this description?

Can you get the cat to a local vet or Wood Green animal shelter to be scanned for a microchip? Might be worth ringing them for some advice anyway.
I can lend you a cat carrier if you need one, and am happy to help if necessary but I don't have my own transport and I am not around until evenings.
In the meantime, I would advise you to sellotape a loop of paper around the collar with your name and number and ask the owner to call you if the cat is being looked after, at least then you will know he/she is ok and can stop worrying :)

Well done for looking after the cat. Maybe try taking a photo of it as it will help people recognise it. If no-one recognises it on here, you could take it to the vet to be scanned to see if it's microchipped.
If the cat is not microchipped, maybe try attaching a little note to its collar with your tel no and see if any owner calls you.
I guess he could be new on the block or lost or if a cat doesn't have a cat flap and can't get into its own home, they are stuck outside for hours until someone's home or owner could be on holiday. I always encourage cat owners to get their cat neutered, microchipped and have a catflap. It's safer for a cat to be inside at night as it reduces the risk of it being lost or injured. Plus a cat is more vulnerable if its recently had an operation.

i hope the puzzle is solved
it maybe the owners have gone away for few weeks and left the cat with a cat feeder so its bored and so come round, explain about him being well fed
i always think first thing to do is put note round the collar, much better than take poor unsuspecting well looked after cat off to the vet, totally unneccesarily and can be very traumatic
esp if the cat looks well looked after,as cats so often like to have a few owners (slaves)
