Anyone know a good damp specialist they could recommend?

I can recommend Derek Dibley who works for Peter Cox Co. and who advised us 12 years ago on a damp problem we had. We called him back a couple of years ago when we had a different problem.

Derek is now semi retired but still doing work for Peter Cox, he is fantastic to the point that he may well recommend what needs doing but suggest you can find get it done cheaper else where rather than through PC. The  deposit you will need pay for the consultation is worth it just for his visit and advice.
