Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Anyone have a Canon 35mm 1.4L I can Take out for a Test Drive?

Bit of a cheek, I know, but I'm trying to find a reason not to splash out on this lens. So, by way of a stalling tactic I thought if I could try the lens out I'll either cool my ardour or fall hopelessly in love.

If someone has a lens they'd trust me with for a couple of days, I'd be very grateful and promise I won't try to woo her away from you!

Sorry I dont go faster than f2.8.  Calumet will rent you one, and knock off the cost if you then buy....

Thanks Tris. Yes, I have the 50, 24-105 and a 24 TSE covering this sort of range, but I'd like to get a 35 prime for a number of reasons. There's a non-L F2 option and a new Sigma option, with the usual 40% bad copies problem marring what sound otherwise like a stellar pice of glass. Despite its age it seems like overall the Canon 1.4 has the edge, but I don't want to splash out in it if it doesn't do it for me.

Have you thought about the canon fit sigma 35mm 1.4? It is arguably as good ( lots of people testing and comparing the two lens online ) and it's a couple of hundred pounds cheaper. The technology is newer the as it was was built in the last couple of years and the Canon 35m 1.4 L is about 20 years old. Also there are rumours of a new Canon 35mm coming out soon so may not be the best time to buy one. I ended up buying the sigma one and am very happy with it.
